What would you do if you witness bullying?

Nowadays it is pretty common to see the headline “bullying” in the news. This is not a new issue in our society. Have you ever seen someone being bullied? If so, how often do you witness it? What action would you take if you witness bullying or any kind of physical or psychological violence? These may be usual questions that any citizen could ask themselves.

If you answered “YES” to any of the questions above, then you have been in the presence of bullying, either you were the bully, victim, or just a witness. This is exactly my case; I was on the witness side. It was a seventh grade during English classes. A student was not paying attention to the class, and he didn’t even have his book and notebook on the desk. Then a classmate started blowing kisses at him. She didn’t stop or wasn’t stopped during the whole class. The teacher just asked her why she was doing that, but she didn’t give a coherent answer. The rest of the class time was pretty much the same, until that a friend of the girl who was blowing kisses, kicked out the belongings of the boy on the floor, while the teacher was not looking at her. So she could not realize of what the girl had done. The boy did not do anything and acted like he had not seen a thing. I took the belongings of the child and gave them to him.

Different opinions can emerge from these situations, everything depending on whom is the person speaking up. The teacher said “nothing like this has happened before; maybe they were just kidding” I commented this specific case to a partner and her opinion was “Maybe the girl thinks this boy is in love with her so because of it she and her friend bothered him”. Having told this I can tell that there is not just one way to see what had happened, those girls might have been influenced by different determinant factors such as: friends, families, self-esteem, personality problems, culture, own background, and so forth.

In my opinion, a possible solution for these kinds of situations at school would be that the teachers in charge started seeing their students as people with names and faces instead of mere numbers. In my own experience I have realized that the students recognize when a teacher is not really interested in them so the pupils start behaving erratically to catch their teachers’ attention. Therefore, bullying or any situation at school could be possibly solved if teachers and students built close bonds.

I strongly believe that if he is being bullied now there are so many chances for him to be traumatized when older. It is not a simple issue, it doesn’t matter why those girls were doing this, but they need to be stopped as soon as possible, otherwise nothing good is going to come out of this. The longer the teacher waits to take this matter into her hands, the worse the trauma in this boy’s life is going to be.

Magazine!

Teachers v/s preachers, what do you want to be?

Is it easy to teach in a classroom? How can a teacher know that he/she is doing right his/her mission? How can teachers know what to do in case their students are not motivated? Is it possible to get to motivate everyone in a classroom? motivation, what is it?

If you have read the questions above and you feel kind of lost, then you're feeling like an on-the-way-to-be-a-teacher. It is almost impossible to describe the teacher's role with just one word as they do lots of things in order to teach and to be the best ones at what they do.

When it comes to problems into a classroom it is impossible not to think of the well known ex-teacher now advisor expert LouAnne Jonhson who has written several books of self-help for teachers and about her own experience as a teacher when younger as well. Based on this one may think that it is important to be a person before thinking of being a teacher. You have to be aware of the students' needs in order to come out with ideas to help them because it is completely impossible to think of any improvement without being conscious of your students' capacities and necessities.

Can any other teacher advice you on your problems at school? I don't think so, every school is a complete different world and so the students are, so it would be pointless to say that there is one way or another to solve any specific situation you may have, you have to figure the way out by yourself taking into consideration your previous knowledge and obviously your pupils' issues, after all, isn't it what makes you a good teacher? Don't take it personally but if you are looking for a book to give you tips of what-to-do-in-case-of you are just not for this job.

If by reading this you think you are just not the right one to be a teacher and you are thinking that all of the books you've read about teachers' stories at school are just phony, please don't be such a radical person, of course those books can help you in some way to figure out what to do but the idea is not to get stuck in those pieces of advice and not to think of your own strategies, c'mon isn't it obvious?

to sum up, there is not just a way to solve a problem or the right one! Any solution you might find would be totally fine as long as you find the right way and the right time to get them done!

Enjoy your life as a teacher, breathe it, eat it, think it and feel it. At the end it will be the only thing you'll have, just kidding!

Favorite masterpiece.

Stonehenge.

Most of people call masterpiece to such known pieces of art like paintings or sculptures. I reckon that masterpieces are way more important that those kind of things for that reason I chose Stonehenge as my favourite piece of art. It's different from other prehistoric monuments and for me it has a very special meaning, I don't know why, though.

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument. Archeological excavation have indicated that the oldest part of its monument dated from 31,000 BC! It is believed that people from different civilizations used to travel there in order to do some rituals. It is also confirmed that this monument was a burial in its beginning

I think I love this piece of art, because it seems so different to all of the other monuments that are perfect in arquitectonic terms and it is so randomly made. It also brings me hope and happyness. It's so weird when it comes to talk about this masterpiece that I can't even find the words to describe what I feel realted to such prehistoric monument.

Autobiography

Hi everyone.

I was asked to write an autobiography, so let's see how it turns out.

My full name is Adrián Alejandro Guzmán Muñoz. I was born on April 7th, 1988 which is the day I like the most, obviously. I have a sister and a step-brother, I'm the cooler one of course. I'm the middle brother.

At the age of thirteen my parents got divorced. It was not something cool for me at all. I used to see my parents arguing all the time and I must confess that it was horrible. In spite of it I had an awesome childhood. I have really good memories of my mother, sister, grandparents, relatives and so forth.

My grandfather's death marked a major turning point for me. I almost spent my whole life with him and suddenly he passed away. It is not like if I lived with him, but I used to visit him every week and sometimes lots of times a week, so you can get it.

I currently live with my grandmother as well. My family didn't want her to be alone after my grandpa died. I think it is pretty cool to be living with her because I can spend more time with her.
I hope that in two years I may finish my career and achieve my goals.
